Balanced insights into the pros, cons,
and considerations of booking a destination wedding photographer.

A destination photographer sees your vision with fresh eyes.
Think of it this way: Local photographers have experienced your wedding region, landscape, and surrounding environments dozens to hundreds of times. This familiarity can be a great thing, but keep in mind, photography is
an art. Artists do their best work when inspired.
Having the opportunity to work in a new environment awakens a unique sense of appreciation, attention to detail, and creativity that can get lost when a photographer is working too often in familiar environments.
Destination photographers may offer lower rates for a few reasons.
If you're planning your wedding in a touristy location, you may find that photography costs more than you expected. This is because both the demand and industry saturation are higher, and local photographers have worked hard to establish their rates. The cost of living is also higher in such locations, which results in higher prices.
While local artists are not over-charging, non-local creatives can often charge less because they're not in direct competition with local photographers.
Additionally, some destination photographers may discount pricing, waive travel fees, or provide services for only the cost of travel and/or lodging.
Destination photographers are fully dedicated to your wedding weekend, offering you a more all-in approach.
Destination photographers are not likely to have other weddings or sessions booked in the same weekend as yours. 100% of their energy will dedicated to your event.
They aren't in a hurry to get home, they're fully present in the moment, and if they're anything like me, they'll want to be there for every second, from rehearsal dinner to day-after brunch, documenting everything.
Great photography is about depth of feeling, not depth of field.
